Martin Tingvall - A Piano Trilogy
In our previous blogposts I talked about the first two of three concert experiences going to be released on November 29th. We kept this very special one to the last as we did a lot of things differently compared to every other concert on our platform that has been released yet.
Martin Tingvall on NOYS VR
The collaboration with Martin Tingvall started with a supportive friend of our company who not only knows us from the very beginning, but whose husband happens to be an excellent pianist, an incredible guy and a hell of an artist. Martin Tingvall is a Swedish pianist whose music moves among categories such as film scoring, classical music, Jazz and Pop. He just happened to release a new album called “The Rocket” topping the German Jazz charts for two months straight (and it’s still in the Top 10 four months after release).
Martin told us that the motivation for the album flourished during a vacation trip where his family witnessed a rocket launch that left its impressive marks. This is why “The Rocket” sets itself apart from all of his previous work which translates to an even greater degree of weightlessness and lightness, without ever drifting into the trivial and banal.
Let's Go on a Space Trip
It was pretty clear from the beginning that the VR experience ought to happen on a space ship. Martin and our arts team set the scene during various creative meetings, where we sketched the rocket with. tools like Tilt Brush, before diving into actual 3D work.
We wanted the rocket to feel like something very futuristic but with an analogue touch to it. Also, we wanted to preserve the feeling of freedom which we not only tried to achieve through an open room but also did we equip the venue with large windows, that allow you to have a look at whats happening outside the space ship.
Piano Trilogy in Space
Martin performs his single “The Rocket III” on three pianos, which surround you audio-visually. You can really feel the presence of the pianos in the room along with the directional source of the sounds. On this engaging piano trilogy, you will be able to experience this during a space trip through different dimensions. To celebrate his new single remix “The Rocket in Space”, you can freely transition between the two versions of the song by interacting with the environment - put your space helmet on and invite up to three Oculus friends! “The Rocket in Space” will be Martin's first VR single release and will also be available on all common download/streaming platforms and as a limited 12 inch vinyl beginning November 29th, published by SKIP RECORDS.
